Hi all. This male Variegated fairy-wren was photographed some months ago in Brisbane. Canon 7D Mk2, Canon ef100-400, 1,800th sec, f8 at 400mm. I have applied some of the suggestions made in relation to my previous post (Mistletoebird), but welcome more feedback. Thanks in advance.

This image looks very good to me, the colours of the bird and perch stand out well against the painterly background. If it was mine I would lose the OOF twig between the main perch and the bird`s backside. A little more space on the left would lift this image even more.

Agree with Gehard re:OOF twig.
The eye looks odd- did you use flash? I would get rid of some of the reflections that you see above the catchlight.
I would also try to lift the blacks in the breast as they are chocked up with little detail.

Beautiful bird nicely captured. I like the patches of lichen on the perch, and agree with the above suggestions. If you did use flash I would remove its center catchlight and leave the upper natural CL with a bit of cleanup.

I was wondering whether you used flash? The little white spot in the pupil appears to indicate so.
A slightly more ideal HA would be better and more room behind it as well as and I agree with the other suggestions from Gail, Gerhard and Geoffrey. :)
Hi all. Thank you for the feedback and the suggestions. I agree about the twig, I'll clone that out, and add a little more space behind the bird. I'll also "fix" the catch light and other suggestions. Cheers.
