There were 8-10,000 of these in a field I managed to get permission for last week and in a spot that had good cover to let me get close to them---AND with the setting sun directly behind me-- a rare combination. There was even a pile of sand to get up onto and get above the blackberry thicket. There was another field full of them south east of me from which a constant migration provided me with steady action for about an hour before it ended. The red band is a field of blueberries . 7DII, Sigma 150-600mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM APO Macro, ISO640, f/8,1/2000

Light is wonderful, Bob. Great to get both birds in focus with good detail. Trees in the background provide good tonal separation from the bright tones on the birds - but less so for the dark underwings. Given the number of birds at this location, I wondered if you had other opportunities with sky or a lighter background? Still you have some nice light under the foreground wing of the lower bird and nice positioning of the two birds. Composition works well for me. I hope you have a few more frames from this visit to share as I'd be keen to see more. Thanks for posting this one.

Looking good Bob. Sounds like you had a great time, with everything fitting in, to get the most of the situation. Lovely BG which shows the birds real well. If you have any with a downward wing pose, I would love to see them.
