Australian Black Swan (C)

This one's for Glenn from AUS.. I was at Lake Mirror a while back, all of the wildlife reserves were closed after Hurricane Irma because of flooding and a need to clean up and restore. Walking along the concrete walkway I saw this Black Swan resting on the adjacent grass area. Every now and then it would raise it's head from slumber, look around and then go back to sleep. I sat down on the concrete walk and waited. The head raised, I captured two frames before the swan fell back asleep. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

Thanks Joe. I have a few Black Swan shots too but not posted any here yet... one day. You've done very well here at that range as it's hard to get good DOF that close. I've tried! Light is beautiful here and the clarity, tone and colour all excellent. Nice simple composition with great background works for me too.

What is the status of these birds over your way? Are they mostly wild birds that have established themselves in suitable locations? Do you have many of them?

Hi Glenn, Lakeland, the city near where I live, has taken the Swan as a symbol of the city. There are four species that have been acquired from different parts of the world. The Mute Swans are descendants of a pair of royal swans from the Thames River in England. The Black Swans from Australia but not sure circumstances or origin there. None of the swans are wild or feral, they are very closely monitored, rounded up each year, examined by a veterinarian, snd wings clipped. Thank you for viewing and commenting, very much appreciated.
