I waited and prayed that this guy would open his mouth to show the glorious school bus yellow lining but he would not. Oh well, something to work on the next time I go to Iceland!

Hi Gail,
This is a great Razorbill portrait. They seem to enjoy posing with this head tilt and turn. Though you wanted the mouth open wider, I like this degree also. Talk about perfect exposure...... The blacks and whites show perfect detail throughout. Love the wonderful shade of grey in BG.
Hi Gail, lovely show off pose here, and I like the curvature of the breast curling up into the frame. The light looks nice and soft, which in turn has resulted in excellent all round exposure. I do like the clean smooth BG too.

Beautiful image quality here Gail. Blacks and whites look great. Only thing I might do differently is add a bit of canvas to the left to give the bird a little more room to look into.

A truly distinguished image Gail---you've mastered both sides of the histogram and even caught the sheen of light on the blacks of cheek and throat. I wish I could get it this perfect in my brant images.

Very nice Gail. I think you have captured the right shade of 'chocolate' colour. Lovely details on the bird, and although the mouth was not completely open, I like how you still get a glimpse of the yellows. Great looking birds, and you captured this one well.
