Here is another from the kayak. After having a fun time, and gaining some confidence, out on the water Sunday AM I decided to take a chance and head out with my 500mm on Monday. At that focal length it is pretty difficult to keep the bird in the viewfinder - let alone get a sharp image. So I was happy to get this one. Of course I was also pretty happy I didnt drop my lens
Camera Model: Canon EOS 40D
Shutter speed: 1/1600 sec
Aperture: 7.1
ISO: 400
Focal length: 500mm + 1.4x
about 70% of frame

Nice, simple image that was not so simple to make. Great sharpness, that makes the water droplets stand out. There is a touch of a halo under the chin.

Nice low angle Glenn. I like the slight look-back glance. The touch of red leg showing looks great against all that blue!

You sure are brave to take the lens on a kayak :)
Good results, lovely colors and definition.

Fabulous Glen. Water droplets on the back add big interest. I can see the sun and its reflection on the sea surface in the eye. Not sure how else you could capture an image like this except from a kayak or canoe- gutsy move with the 500 on-board!
