That water is really wild! On one hand I like it, on the other, it really messes with my eyes. Nice.

To me the water is very distracting. Perhaps a lower angle, if possible in your stituation, would have reduced that psychedelic effect (and also given a more intimate look at the loon). You did get a beautiful specimen to photograph, and the catchlight really adds some life to it :-) I too could listen the the loon's calls all night...

Actually, if you kept the sharpening down from the water and back of the Loon, it be better. I uses Gaussian blur, masking the bird's face totally and 50% in the plumage. Hope you like it!

Hello all,
Thanks alot for your great comments and appreciation about this picture...
Fabs, I like your repost and thank you alot for this workshop... But I must say that I prefer the original for the water effect appearing here. For my eyes the water didn't distract me from the bird... It is taste question, I guess ;-)
