Sweet on all counts. Perfect poses plus flowers...

Hi Dale -- Beautiful settings and a lovely moment ! They are such amazing creatures .
I find it a bit noisy and also it appears to me somewhat crunchy especially the fur of the cubs .
TFS !
Hi Dale - What a sweet and beautiful image. Love the flowers as well as the pose/action. My guess is that the cubs may be wet which can result in that slightly too sharp look to the fur. I added "Theme" for you since July's Theme is Youngsters.

Curious about this noise issue... Now I'm not sure what crunchy is.. 7D2 at 640 iso should be just fine. Exposure was dead on so no issues there. Processed in DPP supposedly the best for Canon files. Zero sharpening applied in DPP. Touched up in PS selectively sharpened mother & cubs.. settings 85 2 0... I'll re-post with no sharpening at all.. Again the OP looks great on my monitor. But I don't have an HD monitor.
Hi Dale - I don't see a noise issue in either post. I think the wet fur sharpens into a more coarse looking fur and that's what we are seeing in the op. Most expect fur to look soft and fluffy like on mom's shoulder. Just my thoughts.

Hi Dale, love the encounter and the whole pose of both Mum (Mom) and the cubs, perfect and the wild flowers just add a nice richness and vibrancy to the scene. "The Family' look very relaxed and content here Dale with your presence and illustrates well, good Fieldcraft and understanding your subjects. To me I do feel there is has a crunchiness/coarseness which is surprising at the low ISO, did you apply any Contrast to the RAW?
Look forward to more from the trip.

Little or none...
OK, just a thought.
So cute, love the moment and the flowers around them!
I think the "coarseness" could be an effect of your sharpening settings, Dale. I personally never go over 0.2px radius on sharpening, although I might need 2 rounds in some cases because of the small radius.
My settings are: 125%, 0.2px, 0% on "smart sharpen" in PS.
Nice shot lovely setting and a wonderful moment.
In DPP did you turn the Unsharp Mask OFF I routinely use Sharpen 3...... and if I use lens correction I very often drop the Sharpen to 2 as the lens correction increases the sharpening effect it does also increase noise a little.
Hi Dale a very cute scene you captured ... mother nature at its best .
All bears do seem to be relaxed and the poses are very cool , mom is looking so cool .
I like the lush green setting and the flowers are a nice addition .
I also think the OP is somehow coarse in the details , and on my screen the image appears a bit flat and a tiny bit too bright , but this can vary from screen to screen , so take this as my personal observation .
Anyway a great frame you captured .
