What if you want to shoot when the light isn't cooperating?

I used to use a home made bracket with a large gun higher than the camera, from the right angled inwards, additionally I had a much smaller gun alongside the lens axis to act as fill in. It worked very well, now I just use a single gun on the hot shoe with a Stofen Omnibounce, if you get the amount of flash correctly adjusted it simply mimics a large light source - which of course is exactly what the sun is. I really don't see the need for various brackets any more unless of course the vegetation gets in the way in which case you could use a flash cable and depending upon circumstance hold the gun. the hot shoe is usually regarded as the most convenient yet the most impracticable place to put a gun, but for me when I use the Omnibounce this doesn't apply. Hope this helps.
