Tried my Hand at the Theme..
Some cleaning up had to be done..
Used a Nik Preset, changed some of presets, did another D&B layer.
Worked of the Tiff colour version which was posted on other platforms.
Selectively sharpened for web.
Any suggestions/ constructive crits welcomed.

Hi Andre, I think you may have been better posting the colour version here, as for me, the conversion isn't really working.
It looks a bit too pushed and where areas appear 'lifted' i.e. the eye. Also, I know what the subject is doing, many may not and so the stem looks as if it should be removed perhaps. The high ISO also has compounded to the issues, but just my take.

Hi Andre - Thanks for taking a stab at the theme. A lovely subject with a feeling of elegance but I have to agree with Steve's crit. It feels a bit forced. I tend to believe that high key works best if it is shot as high key rather than processed to be high key. Just my opinion though. No matter what it is always worth experimenting.

Rachel

Hi Andre -- i too am in favour of the colour version as it gives a nice sense to the image whereas the conversion appeared a bit of forced work , sorry . great to see you posting for the this months theme .

Hi Andre - The traditional definition of high key images comes from the use of high key light to eliminate shadows. So I think of a high key image done in camera as one with little shadows and contrast. Here your color shot has plenty of shadows and contrast so for me it is not really a candidate for high key treatment.
Hope this helps.

Hi my Buthi ..... back to try to rip your image apart my friend .... bet you missed that :bg3::bg3::bg3:
To be honest i am ok with the HK idea of the OP .... but i would try a lower contrast and less gritty look on the frame , just give it a shot , might loose the BG completely for making the subject stand out .
Just my idea , as it stands the color version does look good ..... but a bit " boring " as being a " standard straightforward " image ... so the OP has more interest in it and i invested more time in it .....
What Rachel said is right ..... but there is not only one way of creating a HK image ....
But keep experimenting my friend  nothing to loose .
Cheers and TFS Andreas
