I need to catch up and also work on a mini-world but I thought I would post this since I am still working (slowly) through my images from my last trip to Italy.
The opportunity for shooting reflections in Venice is unlimited. Burano seems to be the best but this was taken in the Arsenale section of Venice. I like to wait until the water is moving before getting a shot instead of shooting a pure reflection.
It reminded me of a Van Gogh for some reason.

You're right . . . Moving water is the way to go, and this is a great example of what it can do. There is a wide range of tones, and the yellows and oranges are a special touch. This is quite wonderful.
Very painterly. Does not really look like a reflection, but is quite wonderful!

Greetings. I like this a lot. .. the colors, the not quite familiar feel. I've been thinking about reflections off water lately, how vertical lines are reflected pointing to the viewer. Here they are wonderfully distorted but subtly there. Slightly darken the fg? Thanks for posting.

This is a fun photo. I love the colors and shapes! Waiting for moving water created a beautiful abstract. What camera did you use?
Thanks everyone for commenting. Anita - I used the Olympus OMD E-M5 Mark II and the 14-150mm lens. It was my walk around kit while I was in Italy this time and I was so thrilled to not have shoulder and neck pain at the end of the day. I usually didn't notice that I even had the camera attached to me :)
I am late to the party. But I saw this image when I didn't have time to reply last week. I think this is an excellent image. I think it's very well thought of and the compositional elements come in together very nicely, Cheryl. The color selection is also very pleasing. Not too strong, not too soft. This is one of those photos that I find very inspirational. If I may ask, how much of a crop? Might be useful if I find myself on the other side of the pond next time. Thanks for sharing!
Hi, Adhika, thanks for the comment! This was pretty much full frame - maybe a little crop on the side but not much. I was intentionally shooting for reflections and tried to compose them in camera. I have been collecting these types of reflections to use with encaustic - they lend themselves to that treatment and I've been doing a series of square format ones. So, I may crop from the bottom to make it square. But maybe not:S3:
