During mid January, I spent a week in La Jolla and each morning I was greeted by this little egret as he fished on the rocks around the cove. One morning the diminutive egret was particularly motionless so I decided to try some slow shutter speeds. Most of the images are soft but I was successful with several exposures.

I love images with birds in water at slow shutter speeds. Very hard to do well.
Egret is really sharp and the whites look great.
if I had one wish it would be a slightly lower POV ( not super low but maybe 6 inches lower). Perhaps there was something in the BG you were trying to keep out of the image?
Love those feet.
Really like this,
Gail

Thank you Gail and I agree, I wish I could have been lower. He was on the rocks below me and with high tide rolling in and out I just couldn't get any lower. I wish I had some more opportunities with the little guy; I am so grateful to have observed and photographed him. steve

A big thumbs up from me, lower would have been better, but you had a nice opportunity and made it work nicely.

This is unusual. Silky smooth water and a tack sharp egret. I love the water background on this one! :)

I like the perch, exposure, blurred water, sharpness and different POV. Excellent image Steve!

A bit steep but still works and a great use of SS.
