I like the general concept with the busy background as the bird stands in the pond. The whites are hot around the vent and the image requires some CWR. Despite this bird being a handsome but common alien here, I have never been able to photograph one I'm really happy with.
Finally please do not think me rude but the bird is a Canada goose not a 'Canadian goose' and in the plural these are Canada geese.
Terry:
Good input from Adrian. Nice separation from a somewhat busy background. Was flash used? Looks like a bit of "red eye".
I called them Canadian geese for a long time, as that is the name I grew up with.
Cheers
Randy
He he, all the ones I photograph up here are indeed Canadian:t3. I was going to ask about flash because of that effect on the eye. The ripples and lines in the BG suggest a CW rotation may be in order here. Good exposure, details, colours. Do not be afraid to raise the ISO when shutter speeds drop (although I suspect you were at max onboard flash sync speed?)
