I shot these geraniums hand-held on a windy day with a 14 mm lens wide open at f2.8. I opted to get the exposure for the dark purple geraniums accurate, which left tons of blown highlights coming through the tree. I turned the blown highlights close to the color of the center of the flowers (and close to the actual color of the sky that day). Also, increased the saturation of the flower centers to emphasize the color similarity. Then I blurred the background a bit, and added back the grain that was removed from the blurring, and sharpened only key foreground flowers. I love the 3D, sort of sparkling effect.
