Very nice pose, Mote, I love straight profiles, so I won't complain about head angle :)
Love the motion in the wing too.
I like the pose, details and complementing BG. A bit more flying toward you would have been great but I like it as is. Why did you post this in the hand of man forum?

Considering this is ISO1100, very nice shot. Background is a bit boring since the bird colors blend in closely. Female Allens I assume, very close in appearance to the Rufous female. You may want to try an additional flash behind the bird to illuminate the background.
Thx for moving me Axel. Yes Wally it is a boring bg. All black would be better, or the bg you have on your calliope is real nice. I been playing with your technique freezing the wings with the flash at a low shutter speed(250 sec) instead of high speed sync. I usually shoot at about 7 to 8 feet and am playing with 1/16 power/4 flashes sec/60 hz.
Great capture and body angle. I like the colors and details on this little guy. The dark background makes him pop...:cool:
