I used a previously edited photo and I may have used Oil Paint on it. I tweaked it in Photoshop including more saturation and added a free snow overlay by Shadowhouse Creations. He has some nice ones, they look like real snow to me.

Looks like a cold day in Mississippi! Nice snow effect. Lots of room on the left for the bird to be "looking"
Thanks Hazel! The snow is pure fantasy. The background was the lake at Noxubee Refuge on an overcast day but not real cold!
Hi, Judy, a phoebe? Love the pose and your composition. The snow texture looks great - sometimes it's hard to get a nice look with an action. At least with the one I use.
Thanks Cheryl! I don't use actions, I have a plugin called Snow Daze by jixipix.com and snow overlays that I am using now. Shadowhouse has some nice free snow overlays now. I also bought some from 2 Lil Owls last year.
Elegant! It evokes snow perfectly. Great composition, too!
A lovely and elegant composition with the slender curving branches and the single phoebe against that fabulous bkgd of softly layered colors of whites and blues! The layer of heavy snow adds a bit of motion to the quiet scene and holds all the elements together perfectly. I like that the smudged frame picks up the darker tones of the phoebe and the branches. And good highlight in the eye of the phoebe.
For one south of the Mason-Dixon line, you have a knack for capturing winter. It amazes me how these small birds make it through the real thing. I took the liberty to add a bit to the top and take something off the bottom.
The snow really works. I was surprised to read that the base image was not taken on a snowy day! A gentle, soft winter image.
Hi Judy, this works very well...the snow overlay is great and suits the image very well!
Sorry I'm late coming back. I guess I missed one comment email and then didn't get any other notices. Thanks to everyone who liked my snow bird with added snow!
Excellent. Love it. Nancy's comment says it perfectly. I love those delicate curving branches. The colors and tones are just right. You did a great job with the Shadowhouse texture. (I like and use many of his textures.) I prefer the OP. Excellent work.
Thanks Anita!
