These birds fly low and fast and seem to appear out of nowhere. Would have been a better image if the wings had been downwards but this is all I got.

Don't mind the wing position but do understand what you are saying David, bird looks really good and do like the pano crop, well done getting this fast flying bird.
Keith.
I think this wing position is fine. Good exposure and the whites look fine.
Nice and sharp.
Gail
Thanks Keith and Gail. I don't mean that there is anything wrong with the wing position as it is, it's just that the top of the wings has far nicer markings than the underside.
David
I understand what you are saying about the wing, but, I do like this image, you captured it very well, with detail, against a lovely BG.

Hi David, looks like sweet light, wing position fine with me too. Well exposed on the head to show the greens, and overall, nice and sharp.
Nice flight pose and light. Exposure and sharpness looks good. I think I would have gone for a more conventional crop here rather than the pano, but maybe there is a reason you chose this comp.
Nice flight shot in beautiful light.
Wing position is fine in this sharp image of a bird I have never photographed well much less in flight :) That far wing is a ratty mess. I want to see well less water below and more water above (assuming that you have it). a
Thanks everybody for your kind remarks and suggestions. Arthur, I will go back to the original and carry out your suggestions. I have more water above.
YAW and good plan. I look forward to seeing a repost. a
