seems this young Elephant Seal bull wanted to tell the Penguins in the BG , LOL ! Actually he was more thinking of another bull that was lurking around , just out of sight .
I was crawling on the ground to get the low perspective , but was also looking around myself for more seals to come over ... as i do not wanted to be overrun by of them .

Love this one, Andreas! I like the DOF with the seals in the foreground, penguins in the middle, and cloud covered mountains in the background. The male looking back at the penguins while the female has her eyes closed is perfect and tells a great story. I might consider pushing the whites in the snow, penguins, and mountains a touch brighter just to see if it improves the image at all. I really like this one. TFS!

Great content and nice low perspective Andreas! I like the muted tones and the penguins in the BG add interest. Well done.

Ho Andreas, I very much like the environment/habitat inclusion here. I had thought if you were flat, then a lower POV would have been really good, looking up, but then I doubt you would have had the Penguins in the background which is a nice addition. Perhaps a fraction more in the mid tones 50/57 personal tastes, likewise a bit more in the HSL/Vib of the lichen/moss, but personal tastes.

Hi Andreas - The penguins make the image for me and I like the inclusion of the habitat behind as well. If it were mine I would drop the reds to give it even a colder feeling.
TFS,
Rachel

Hi folks thanks so much for your thoughts and suggestions , all noted and thought about .
During processing i had various thoughts regarding tone and color , i ended up with the result and i still like it .
I went already further i initially wanted , the light was so flat / grey at the time of capture that i wanted to stick to for the final output image , when i had the final version ready to downsize ....... i thought this is too flat , so i went for a bit more contrast / tone but left the colors alone .
If this was not mine i might have had Steve´s thoughts as well .... but it is mine and i have been there .
Steve - regarding going lower or higher for a different perspective , well i have taken all sorts of shots of this couple and i already posted 2 or 3 in the past .In this image i like the depth i created by all the various layers of stone, snow, moss, hills, sky and clouds , and this would have not been the case if i would have been on my belly , plus i would have lost the penguins and they became a part of the composition . With hindsight only the beach line crossing the head of the bull is somehow not ideal . :2eyes2:
Being so close to a bull that has got a female on his own .... one should be careful how to move around , as one could become easily a target for an attack and these ´Salamis` can be very quick specially when one is lying flat on the ground fully geared up ! I approached them by moving on all fours ,lying flat on he ground and in this case i was kneeling to get the desired image .
Hope this helps for those who are interested .
Thanks again , Andreas

Very nice inclusion of the environment Andreas, the look back and flipper over his grilfriend together with the onlooking penguins coming together nicely.
