Eastern Phoebe

This past Saturday, late in the afternoon while walking back to the parking lot in a local wildlife preserve, we spotted this Eastern Phoebe just perched soaking up the sun. He was not at all skittish and offered up a nice pose or two in a fall setting. C&C welcome.

D4s, Nikon 500mm + 1.7 TC, 1/1000s, f 9, ISO 640, Gitzo tripod, Wimberley Gimbal head.

Nice perch and bird, Geoffrey. The blue spot at the top left should go.
Also I could see a more close crop that would eliminate the blue spot for sure.

Hi Geoffrey,
It's a personal preference of course, but I like the bottom (tighter crop) better.
It looks nicer without the blue spot whatever it was.

I like the subject posing among those ripe fruits. Not a scene I often see with phoebes. I too prefer the third option crop-wise. Only the processing needs to be tidied up: the lower right corner shows cloning marks, and the contour of the subject and berries look like they have a halo and softness. Did you mask those to blur the BG?

Thanks Daniel. I forgot to mention I did remove some distracting branches, and I did mask the subject, but could have been a bit more careful in the process.
