I had a trip to Glen Quaich in Perthshire early yesterday morning, it wasn't the best light, but I managed to capture this Red Grouse. It was perched high which at least helped with the amount of light available.
Thanks for looking.

Such a wonderful image of a great looking bird, Will. Love the layered background and the moss covered rock as a perch is outstanding, the strongest part of the composition.

Will it is a feast for the eyes lovely setting and pose. I agree a tad of a head turn would have helped but it looks pretty good to me.

Hi William
I am sure I have seen this Grouse before-- on a Whiskey Bottle called Famous Grouse..?
If so, your image is way better:bg3:
Love the FG with moss on the rocks, BG stunning.
Looks cold and wet..
Very nice detail on bird, with good mid-tone contrast, detail in darks.
I would just tone down the hot whites on the rock behind Grouse.
