A sunny day was forecast for last Thursday, so I made my way to the loch during the hours of darkness, and set myself up in the portable hide. The sun was just rising over the horizon, the water looked great, with mist rising on the cold but clear morning. The swans were on the far side, and I got lucky when all the birds looked towards the camera.

They definitely spotted you! The birds are well illuminated and stand out nicely against the natural background. One may be tempted to crop this one into a panoramic shot?

The thumbnail doesn't do this image justice . Love the grouping on the left.
I would crop the image to eliminate the swan on the right. I think it would create a much more "focused" image. I find my eye wandering to the lone swan instead of lingering on the group.
Love the light and the mist.

I Love then overall hue of the shot, and the reflected ripples on the body of the birds.

Thanks for viewing, and the comments, much appreciated. I was actually going to crop as Gail and Ross suggested, but. I liked the look of the adult swan, looking towards the 'wayward' cygnet :S3:. I will try the other crop though.

Hi Will, a cracking image, love it with great light for a change, cool POV too.
If you get another opportunity then a misty morning could be another option to add to this one, WVD!!! :cheers:

Hi Will, getting up early really paid off here, and love your low angle. I do like the sweet light, which in tuirn has brought the colours so well. Im going against the norm, and say leave the lone Swan in - I feel it balances the comp. :w3
