Seldom do I see a chat in the open and get an image of it but this guy posed nicely for me. The midday sun was harsh, would using a filter help this kind of image? If so, what kind of filter?
I'm not particularly bothered by the quality of the light Dona; you handled it well! Like the crop and the perch. Wish you had a little more eye contact. Overall very nice. Thanks for posting!

Very pretty image Dona and well composed. I like the flowering perch in this image and as mentioned a little more eye contact would strengthen this image. Many thanks for sharing.

Dona,
Fill-flash would have helped to fill-in the shadows on the belly but as Doug mentioned, you handled the light well and the image looks good. Eye contact would have been nice but if the Chat's are hard to get a bead on, then you did very well hear capturing this pose.
The bird and perch looks soft to me and perhaps needs more sharpening. If you are new to preparing a JPG for posting, see the following by Artie Morris on how to create them.
Thank you for the suggestions. The image does indeed need some sharpening and I will look into that action suggested by Artie Morris.

Great find and setting. I agree regarding head angle and a less steep angle would have been great, too. I'm wondering if desaturating the yellows a few points would help.
