One of the many juvenile birds that were hanging around our backyard feeders in July. This summer has been extremely dry, and a small fountain has been a great attraction for them.

What a lovely bird Bill :) Quite the neat perch too, a vine running up a tree. Great setting, great background.
It is evident that some work was done on the upper part of the vine. What drew my attention to it first was the abrupt OOF transition in the vine, and the slight OOF area on the adjacent tree bark.
I get the impression that if the bird was a little higher in the frame it (may) be even nicer. That may reduce the issue with the vine at the top too :S3:

Thanks for looking, Ross, and for pointing out that area. I hadn't realized what a clumsy job I did of cloning there until you pointed it out. This is full height cropped from horizontal, and I cloned out a small spot on the longer vine, just above the end of the shorter vine. I can't explain why I resorted to working on the whole vine above that point, and poorly at that. I'll go back and revisit it.

What a cutie, and I love how it is clinging to the "perch" and the pose the little has taken. The yellow gape nicely shows the young age. Good details against the beautiful smooth green BG. I believe pointing your lens up by 1/2" could have been good.
Very nice, Bill. Like the slight body twist towards us, and great detail with nice look at the tuft. Also like the feet gripping the vine.
