Another favorite image from my recent trip to the Pantanal.

HH while lying on the ground. The Tapir was walking slowly, and the image was reasonably sharp, but I wish I had shot this at 1/400 or faster.
Cloned out 2 bright sticks and a bright spot in the BG
Reduced exposure by -0.55eV in LR. Does it look a bit too dark?

Hi Loi -- you should have added this to the theme . excellent head on view and nice low POV , you have handled the light pretty well ,the colours look better than the previous Tapir image , i would have cropped out a bit from the top , well done and TFS !
I worked on this image last night under room light. Now in the morning under natal light it looks way too dark. Will re-work it later. Loi

Great shot of this species , lovely low POV . Have changed a bit in my RP like a bit tonal contrast in the subject and reduced the blue/magentas a fair bit .The crop is a matter of taste but i think the central placement is not ideal in this case , and the BG is simply stunning .
But i would not change the overall tone and color !!!!
Not too dark for my taste as i think it was taken at dusk or dawn so it reflects the time of shooting quite well .
Niceyl processed with lovely details and the right amount of sharpness !!! for my taste .

Hi Loi - It already has the "Theme" prefix so not sure why the others thought it did not. Great head on view of this and I too like the bg. I like what Andreas did in the rp. Was it leaning slightly or maybe it needs a little cw rotation? I would be very excited to have captured this one too.

The low POV really makes this one and certainly communicates a "being there" feeling to the viewer. The rp by Andreas brings it up a notch although I'm undecided about the crop.

The first thought when I opened this image was some rotation, maybe I am wrong?
Like Andreas RP, but maybe a NR on BG?

Hi Loi, good call on the POV, no fear of being eaten with this one, only a quick tickle or snuffle.
Personally I feel the composition isn't working and a vertical format would have been the better route, however I like Andrea's RP placing the subject off centre. Agree with your own critique, you needed more SS for sure. Being front on, rather than 3/4 or the HA slightly turned, it doesn't quite reflect that truncated trunk with is rather cute and one of the unique features of this subject I feel. Perhaps a few more frames on and you would have lost the vegetation in the FG over the front legs, do you have any more???
I think this subject is a real fun one and would love to see more and it has great character and real pleasure to look at and a nice change from African animals for sure :w3.

I would have been excited as well at this opportunity. Some good points have been raised - I like Andreas' RP too - did you get some more when the animal got a tad closer?
