I like the monochrome look for this one Mitch. I'm not sure the goose is needed, it seems to have no good place to land here.

I agree. I think the problem with the goose is the posture. It is ready to land, but is too high up against the clouds. With that position, it should be only a few feet above the water.

REading the above comments tells me what looked a bit odd. Nice in B&W. I think the image could stand on its own without the bird.
Oh no! This poor goose is going to smack into the fence! I agree with Kerry and Anita that this would be perfectly fine without the goose. The b&w gives this a rich variety of tones and the clouds look very dynamic. I also like the composition of the vertical layers rising along the left edge with the simple piers reaching out horizontally into the image. The horizon line and the horizontal lines of the clouds continue to then take your eye to the right.
A fine black and white image that stands well on it's own, minus the landing goose.
