Another one from the archives. This time it's my kitty Leeloo, transformed into an abstract. I think one of the great potentials of blurs in general is in creating abstracts. This one retains just enough of the subject to inform the viewer of what it is but still be mainly abstract in nature.

You are right that this blur allows us to know that it is a kitty face. Amazing. I like the darkness. Just the right amount of blur. (I'm not sold on blurs yet.)
No worries Anita, we're not trying to win you over. It's just another art form IMO.
Kerry, I really like the colors and the dynamic feel to the image. I realize you took this image some time ago, but could you describe how you did it: camera settings, lens, etc. I would like to learn more about creating effective blurs.
Hi Wendy, I did not remember how I did this one so I went back to the original file. What I discovered is that I did not do this one in the camera, rather it was done with the zoom blur filter in Topaz Lens Effects. I should have explained that, but my brain right now is still in recovery mode. I was warned that this would happen, mostly due to the fact that my heart was stopped for the surgery and then restarted and also lots of anesthesia and pain meds. :bugeyed:Quote:

I really like the very abstract blur effect! I don't have Lens Effects and didn't know such an interesting blur effect was possible! I've not been a big fan of blurs either but I've done a few zoom blurs on flowers that I liked.
