I really enjoy trying to capture fun and interesting take off and landing shots. They take a bit of patience and an understanding of your subject, but the results can be quite rewarding. This is a Western Meadowlark taking off from a natural situation. Hope you like it.
Thanks as always for looking and for your input. I appreciate it.

What's not to like?
Great light, tack sharp where it counts and a little bit of wing blur on the primaries to suggest movement.
A nice appropriate size perch and a lovely BG.
Only thing to improve this shot would be a bit of a head turn our way.

Lovely image, David. I cannot see a difference from the Eastern Meadowlark that is in Florida. Thank you for sharing.

Yes, it is really true and your great work paid off here. I like the pose, perch and BG, the perfect timing that one foot just lets the perch go. I wish for some softer light here. Well done.

Beautiful, David. It's all good, and perfectly timed at just the moment of liftoff. Yes, these are hard to capture. My attempts have led to many shots of tailfeathers exiting the frame. Knowing the subject and learning to anticipate are key.

Way cool image, David. Only because the bg is otherwise so perfect, I would smooth out the transition below the lower wing.

Hi Dave, very well timed, and just love the full wingspread. I do like the mix of the grey and yellow colours, and sharp where it counts. The size of the perch is just perfect, and what a cool smooth BG. Another great image from you.
