Don't know how you feel about this image, I have a smile from ear to ear as I remember this chap looking kind of "worn out" and constantly running around a water hole in the Kalahari, chasing every bird as if the water was going to run out:)
I haven't posted here for a while... thought I'd bring a smile to you face tonight, also wishing you a great week ahead:)
Kind regards,

Thanks for sharing, Gabriela. But I feel sad for this fellow; times seem to have been tough for him.

Thank you Norm and Christopher:)
I have confidence that I will see this chap again next year, he is a survivor second to none...He ate a few doves and some sand-grouses while we were there...He is just the "agitated and nervous" type, more of a a choleric personality, comparing to the others...Ready to pick up a fight with anyone who dares drink from "his" water hole. He sometimes gets a hiding from a female jackal we affectionately named "Pretzel", she is even more courageous than he is and we saw her bite a Badger's tail, LOL.
So glad you found a few seconds to view, will post some more when I get a chance:)
Have a wonderful evening,

Great image portraying the intensity of the jackal, and the barren bkgd puts all the more emphasis on the jackal and his plight. And I love your stories from your wealth of experience with African wildlife!

Wonderfully captured....with 3 legs in the air! Perfect DOF and low persepctive. And it did the job....I DID, indeed, smile !

Is this a jackal? He's quite handsome although a bit skinny.

Thank you Marina, indeed, a Blackbacked Jackal:) "Mean and Lean", LOL.
I love them to bits, they are so full of character. Not sure you saw my first Story Sequence, you might not like the Jackal that much after viewing those frames, but those guys have to eat and feed their young too. By the way they are great parents and the little ones are adorable, they resemble fox cubs and are so playful and naughty...
Wishing you a wonderful week-end,

Wow he looks a bit scrawny indeed.
Hope you get to see him again. Sounds like a survivor from what you had written!
That's at least promising.
TFS!
