Late afternoon shot of a mother Eastern Grey Kangaroo with a joey poking it`s head out of her pouch. Canon EOS-1D Mark IV, EF 300 f2.8L IS II + 2XTC, 1/1250, f 6.3, ISO 800, evaluative metering, handheld. Converted to BW in CS6, cropped and sharpened. Thanks for looking, critique welcome.
Hi Gerhard, fantastic image, great POV/perspective and the conversion just works!
What I might suggest is the RH crop comes in so the trim follow down that RH edge of the vertical leg and a fraction more space to the left. Just check you black point, I think it needs that edge to it. Techs look spot on.

Hi Gerhard - I agree, a fantastic image. Love the conversion and overall comp, though I agree with Steve's suggestion. There's a feeling of innocence to the joey peeking out and the catchlight adds tremendously.

The joey is adorable and those hanging front legs of the mom really create an interesting & unusual framing effect! Well done in B&W. Good suggestion about adjusting the cropping.
Great spot, and an excellent conversion. I might be tempted to slightly lighten the joeys eye, just a touch, but maybe I'm just looking for something to be critical about!

Gerhard, one of the best Kangaroo images I've seen in a long time! Love the perspective and delicate monochrome treatment.
I do agree with Steve's crop suggestion as well as punching the blacks some more.

Hi Gerhard -- Excellent image !! very creative image with excellent quality , the conversion works perfectly . U already have got great suggestion from Steve and i will agree with it but i would like to add , try to clone out the OOF blade of grass right below the joey's snout if it permits ur ethics. TFS sharing this wonderful image !!

Great techs and very nice PP work indeed, what appeals to me most is the expression from the Joey as he exits the pouch to investigate his surroundings - he does seem a tad vulnerable, at the same time I detect a sense of comfort he is experiencing, given by the intimate contact with mom.
I have to agree with Morkel, this is one of the best images I have seen of this species- a very touching and evocative scene, certainly one I shall remember and wish to revisit in the future:cheers:
