female woodchat shrike (Lanius senator)

This image is from the past weekend. A group of friends have found a very tame female woodchat shrike that now is trying to raise a group of hungry fledging without the help of a male. The bird is feed with worms by the photographers and she is seems very happy with the extra meal for her family. It is amazing how tame this female is. She allowed up to seven photographers and their chairs with no blinds at a couple of meters of distance!!!! I have never seen a bird like this one in more than 35 years birding!

Juan- Es estupenda! I have noticed so many of your images are exceptional and this one is no exception(!). Now to say why I like it- what really "grabs" me in the bird on top of the onion plant (or whatever it is). The lighting is soft and the BG is beautifully mellow with a really nice grade from top to bottom. The bird is of course sharp and the head angle is perfect for me.
