On a recent trip to Delaware, I found this cattle egret hunkered down in a field weathering drenching rain. I tried to capture the mood of the scene, let me know if I succeeded. Thanks!

It certainly worked to capture the mood. The OOF grass in the foreground is a bit distracting but not too much. I'm wondering if the color temperature is a bit high.
I'm with Axel in that a cooler color temperature would help convey a sense of inclement weather.
You did Grace. He does seem to be wishing he was somewhere else. Color does seem a bit yellowish-green to me.

I agree with all on the color. Still the look on the egret captures the "wet" feeling.
Totally great capture, the mood here is set and if the color temp was cooled it might take the image to cold feeling...
foreground seems totally fine with me (personal taste). bird's pose & smudged feathers conveys the 'rain' mood. but am not sure if BG helps it in anyway because the colours look a bit too bright for an overcast day. a bit of soberness in BG colours could perhaps make the mood exactly as u were looking for.
great all around image! I like that background!
