I managed to capture this gannet from the boat I was in, sailing to the Isle of May, Fife, yesterday. I wasn't expecting it to fly past the boat, as I seen it coming, I quickly set my camera to what I thought would be correct for the conditions. The light was pretty much against me, but I liked what I captured. :S3:

Really striking capture with the sea weed against the face and the against-the-grain lighting (well handled).
A striking capture, all the better given the light. From a technical perspective there is a noticeable halo below the bird, but this is such a nice shot, if it were mine I'd go back and polish it up.

I'm really liking what you got here. Neat feather texture on the body, and the nesting material is a study in itself. I'd be happy with this one too.

Hi William, great close up, and Ive always liked the colours on their faces. A bonus that you captured him with a beak full of seaweed. I might add a touch more exposure to 'lighten' it a bit.

I like the tight framing and the overall color /tone combo .Lovely detail and the sea weed is a very nice bonus .
you might watch for halos along contrast edges :w3, but this a minor thing and could be fixed if you wish .
