This image is from 2009. I post it because it is from the same location as the one I posted the day before.
Back than I managed to capture the process of chiseling the hole out by the male and being inspected the result by the female.
This time I just hope that there will be little ones at this location and not somewhere else.
Thanks for looking

The inspection by the female reminds me of my wife checking my DIY, like the way it's making the wood fly, fine looking bird well taken Karl.

Hi Karl
Great to see a woody doing what they do ! Like the BG too!
I,ve had Lesser Spots chucking stuff out from inside but never like this. Good one.

Luck you to have captured this behavior, Karl. You had golden light and a golden opportunity and you made the most of it. You did well with the high angle.

Nice image, great to see the bird doing what it does. Nice and sharp esp with it in the process of digging out the hole, and with such a slow frame/sec rate!! - it was fast at the time and we all raved about it, how times change.

Love the light and how you were able to time to get the head sharp.

I love this one; fantastic behavior shot and action. I like the wood chips flying by and the perfect moment of the head not having any motion blur. Golden light is a plus. Congratulations, Karl.
