NOW the crow has the attention of the owl. Do you know if this was caused by the owl being near a nest, or do you think it was just a general territorial issue? We sometimes see food disputes between Harriers and Owls, or Eagles and Osprey, this obviously is not one of those. I have always been amazed at how RR Blackbirds around here will attack anything that flies by, including Bald Eagles. And the Eagles are usually the ones to run, despite the size difference. At least in this case size is more even.

This is a common behavior. Many birds will harrass predators like the Barred Owls to try to drive them away.
Thanks, Jim. This is similar than to what we see here in the PNW with the crows and RWBB's most often. I suspect that every area of the world has something similar. It does always amaze me that Raptors of often just why away from confrontation.
