I did a series of blurs in the courtyard at Saint Pau de Camp, the oldest church in Barcelona with a Roman cemetary. The trees in the courtyard were casting shadows on the ground which was a lovely shade of tan. I have about 15 that I really liked (I promise i won't show all of them to you:S3:) but tomorrow I'll post one that's more abstract. Another one sooc except for levels adjustment in CC.

I like it for other reasons, too, but what great depth!!! I think it's a combination of the blur direction, the leading shadows, the locations of the trees, and the narrowing field of tan. The amount of blur was just right. It produced those nice vertical lines but still maintained the shadows. Being a fan of earthy tones, I really like the brown against the tan. Show us the other 14, please. :S3:

Greetings. That's a really interesting effect with the shadows placing a floor to accentuate the third dimension. There is also an interesting tension in wanting to see higher, it draws one in. Thanks for posting... really engaging image.

Yes, but when you looked up from the camera you were in Barcelona! This image has a really cool other-worldly look to it. Bring them on, we can take it! :D
Hey, I'm good for seeing all the others! And I am sooo jealous, the one day I was in Barcelona it was pouring cats & dogs and nearly dark as night. Great composition with the vertical lines, thick widely spaced tree trunks and the tight vertical lines of the fence in the upper right. I would consider cropping away those few bright colors in that area. I really like the just the tans and browns. The pale tree shadows are brilliant and make this image really stand out.

Very soothing Cheryl, and all those lovely shadows. As Nancy mentioned maybe a slight crop from the top to eliminate the lighter lines? Lovely work.
