On my way to covering a film shoot at Paramount Ranch, I ran into a guy who was out walking his mandrill. This isn't something you see every day, so I got a few pictures of it before he went on his way. The mandrill was just, um, grooming his foot here but I thought the image would look really cool. I used Topaz Impression for the painterly look.
Love it. I don't mind not seeing the eyes as I find the focal point is looking down and at the foot. I gasped when I opened it, so lovely Kerry! I love what Impressions has done to the fur too.

Nice light and composition. I can't make sense of the blue shapes where the eyes would be. Can you tell me what that is?
Serendipity works again, and you made beauty from it. Who would think you'd find a man walking a mandrill? The painterly look is just right. Like Anita, I'm not sure what the blue is (eyelids closed?) but they add just the right touch. Maybe if the eyes were open we might not have seen these lovely colors.
Wonderfully dramatic lighting and lines! I love seeing the abstract in reality. Anita and Hazel, the blue is colored skin parts on the face, as is the red nose. To be pretty and attract the ladies! Still trying to imagine why a man would have a mandril as a pet. Best I've encountered was a blonde python wrapped around a lady getting her tires changed at a gas station. Wish I had my camera.

If I saw a guy walking a mandrill, I'd run for the nearest cup of really strong coffee…. Wonderful you had your camera and asked him for a photo shoot!!
