A variation in my backlight series.......7 am, sun just rising(instead of noon) :)
400mm, ISO 800, f/7.1. 1/2500 and I way underexposed it as I was getting that rising sun
on evaluative, should not have been at - .67EV
did one with more bg saturation, but this is more natural and true to what I saw
head turn should be better?

I really enjoy this image. Normally I do not like to photograph white birds in backlit conditions against a light background, but you have just proven that it can work. I love the light, almost breezy feel and the wider perspective - and the posture is top notch! Well done from me:cool:

I love the composition you've created here, Dave. I really like everything about this image. The only thing I might suggest is darkening up the foliage like I have in the attached example. Just a matter of taste really...
PS: I think a head turn would look a bit unnatural here. I think the angle is fine as presented.

For some reason I don't like the neck reflection ending bluntly in such a straight line, I'd prefer if there were more room at bottom to also include the face (I'm sure most will disagree though). Don't get me wrong though, this is a GREAT image that you should be proud of!! :-) The early morning mood is nicely depicted.
I like the composition and setting. Blake's repost makes it even better. More eye contact would be nice but is highly unlikely to get with this wing position. I might lighten the dark spots left and right of the neck.

I like this a lot, Dave. The original looks like a watercolor. Blake's repost is also nice though it changes the mood - I'm not sure which I like better. I agree with Daniel about the neck reflection ending abruptly - a minor point. Very well done!

Blake, thanks yet again....yes that grass should be darker as it is in the shade.
Daniel, you may be very correct that it would be better with the head reflection. It was just a strange soft blur, so I went for what I though was a better crop. I definitely will go back and play with this some more. Thanks for honest input
