Hi Steve - Who was more startled you or the marmot? Nice detail and look at him with complementary colors of the rocks and bg. I like the pose with both front paws on the rock.

Rachel
Very nice detail and I like the crop/ Some may comment on the BG rock bisecting the head but it docent bug me. Nice one Steve!
Hi Steve, like the quizzical look/expression from this guy and the slight head tilt. The BKG doesn't concern me either as the contour seems to run along and around the subject, so it almost ties in well. Like the detail and overall colour too.

Steve,
Nice timing as you caught the curious/surprised expression perfectly with good detail, exposure and composition. Love seeing the feet and the image makes me smile.

Nice comp here with excellent detail... Very good image!
Thanks for the comments.
Rachel,
Neither one of us got to shocked. He just kind of waddled out into view, said "Hey", then went about his business :S3:.
About as nice a marmot shot I've seen to date!
The quirky pose and perfect framing/detail makes this a treat...
Thanks for the look Morkel.
Hello Steve,
I absolutely adore this scruffy character, and especially that inquisitive look and mouth half open in wonder. Great framing, lovely colours and detail, super shot:cheers:
Kind regards,
