This is an image of a skimmer baby that was taken not long after it hatched. We were in the Pantanal, Brazil travelling along the Rio Negro River and found some skimmer nests on a sand island. We only took a few images as the parents were not happy to have the intrusion and we did not want to cause them undue stress. Beautiful little chick in late afternoon lighting with a little egg material still on it's beak. So interesting to see some similar species so far from home.

What a great find! (The Pantanal is a wonderful place for surprises like this.) Nice light, detail and composition.

Very precious, and so delicate-looking. I kinda wish the shadow behind the chick wasn't so bold though, but no biggie!
