This frame was imaged on December 29th, 2013...but I sat on it until now. The pose was the ultimate perfect one, but there was a big problem. Some primaries of the wing to our left was cut off out the frame, plus the tip of the longest feather on the right was touching the other frame edge. This at 100mm too!! I am not very patient when it comes to processing but the pose just prevented me from binning it in case I decided to go ahead and fix it later on. Well, with another Snowy Owl irruption this year the time was now as my mind is currently on these owls:S3:. After adding canvas left and right I borrowed the matching primaries from the "good" wing, flipped them, then played with the curvature and spots to make them slightly different. I think it was well worth it, and hope you do too! I think I found a perfect spot in the house for a canvas print of this one...
Canon 7D + 100-400L @100mm, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/1600s., f/6.3, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, horizontally more than FF (from 5184 to 6068 pixels), lightened the irises, darkened the wing and tail spots for more "pop". Baited.

Absolutely gorgeous, Daniel. I love it! Nice work on the canvas extension and feather repair, as well. I can't find a hint of it. I will look beautiful in canvas!

Spectacular Daniel:
Well repaired, perfect pose, eye contact. Print it large and mount on a dark wall so it really pops!
Cheers

Simply beautiful. Daniel, you may not need to spend any more time thinking about capturing Snowys! You've absolutely nailed this one. Thanks for your tips on how to recover an 'almost' perfect image. It's remarkable you waited a year to process this gem.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Daniel,
Wonderful image and excellent PP. A quick point:I am looking at the image with my laptop on my tummy( am sick in bed with flu) and had the screen angled away from me.I can see a distinct line above the wing where you added the canvas. If I move my screen forward the line disappears.
I am only telling you this in case you do decide to print this big because that line may become visible on print. You will want to blend the seam more.

Thanks for the heads up Gail. I can't see it on my PC's LCD monitor, but I can see it well on my wife's laptop.

Beautiful frame Daniel. Love the frontal view and the white on white is super cool, literally! Great PP work too. I am glad you are getting some of your "Art" printed on canvas. I love the medium and have many pieces in my home and in other establishments. Have you ever tried using a floater frame with your canvases? It really adds to the artsy look. This one is gonna look killer!!

Awesome wing repair/post work, though what Gail mentions is also quite visible on my monitor as well, but an easy fix, and the image has such impact!...WOW at 100mm...looks like it was time to get out of the way ! :)
