Here is my entry into the theme... Black Birds. I captured this image at one of the lakes in Lakeland, Florida. There are four species of swans than have been introduced into the lakes within the city. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

Fits the theme well, with just the red bill for a little color. Well exposed.
Generally preening head positions work best when parallel to the sensor. Seeing that red eye, and the great bill, does help here, however.

Exposure is very nice with lots of detail in the feathers. I'd agree with Randy about having the head parallel to the sensor. A bit lower perspective, if possible, would be great.

Great job with those blacks, and the details are enjoyable. I like that we can see the eye, but wish we could see more of it. I do love the visible serrations of the bill grabbing onto the feather.
