Great head angle, like the dirty bill,good eye contact. Just a bit too contrasty on my screen.
I have included another crop option, with a bit less contrast. Just an option for the shape of this bird. I thought it balanced a bit better without the large mass of the rump.

Thank you Randy. It's true that your crop works very well and the picture has definition to do it. It's FF without crop.
Randy's crop is just right. A bit of a large crop for my personal taste, but visually effective. The head is turned nicely to get the light hitting it well. A bit contrasty as mentioned by Randy, and the bright area in the BG does draw the eye. Quite the dirty bill...this fella is a messy eater!

A great photo with the sun in the eye and the blurred background. I fully agree with the crop suggested by Randy. However, I would like some more space above the head if available.

The vertical crop is more attractive, IMO. I'd agree about the high contrast, but overall a good image!
I like the vertical crop. More room above would have been nice.
