A pair of gannets during a "kelp handoff" on St. Bonaventure Island. The light was bright, but since access to the rookery is from mid-morning until mid-afternoon, that's just something that you have to deal with unless you are fortunate enough to have an overcast day. Any C & C appreciated.

Love this capture the blue BG and kelp and the interaction of the two birds makes this special.

Mike:
I agree, the symmetry, the shared kelp, clean view of each head, and the clouds in the blue sky pull it all together.
Do they allow flash? You might have been able to fill the shadows just a bit.
Cheers

Beautiful portrait. The head angle are perfect on both. I would only run a bit of noise reduction to the background if it was mines.

"Kelp handoff or "kelp standoff"--hmmmmmmmm, the deadly gimlet eyes say standoff to me but no matter the outcome this is an extraordinarily striking image…. one for the gallery.
