One of the birds I saw on my recent trip to St. John's, Newfoundland. Eight species of gull, many species of duck, one of them was this Tufted Duck below.
I converted it to an oil painting using Fotosketcher.
Nice duck Paul! The effect looks great and I like the magic light - was it just after dawn?

Thanks Kerry, last few minutes of light, sun was low in the sky.

I love the textured look that Fotosketcher has created. I like the tuft, the eye, and the light. Did you get the puffins too?

The duck and its reflection are surely the attention-getters, but I really like the look of the water.

Great effects and lighting on this one, Paul. Have you ever figured out your M/B? (Miles per Bird) :w3

Miles per bird, I really have to think about that one. It used to be a lot easier. When I started this Birdquest in 2004, I could go just about anywhere and find a bird that I needed to photograph. My 1963 Golden Guide has 699 birds listed in its pages, to date I've photographed 663 of them, the going rate is about $1,000 a bird. :tinysmile_shy_t:
Thank goodness I have an understanding wife....

I love your duck! Wonderful light on the bird and the effect on the water really works well as Dennis pointed out.

663 bird species images is amazing! And this Tufted Duck is a nice addition, with the lovely lighting, water texture, and reflection.
