Captured this image last May on a very warm day. There is a rather large puddle on a dirt road in a local park on the edge of the forest that has produced many opportunities for bathing and drinking images.
D700. Nikon 500mm + 1.4 tc, 1/640, f 7.1, ISO 1250, Gitzo tripod, Wimberley Gimbal head.

I took one look at this and said to myself "That's just John Robinson's kind of shot." Beautiful light and great detail on those fluffed up wet feathers, and I love the inquisitive tilt to the head. Well done. Although it's hardly noticeable, I wouldn't mind losing the little twig that sticks up through the tip of the tail.

Nice low POV and like the sweet head tilt.
I would clone out the horizontal twig that runs above the robin. My eye gets pulled up and away from the bird.
I really like the painterly look of the water.

This is probably my favorite bird to watch taking a bath. I love the pose and the cocked head. Low angle works well both for the perspective offered and for minimizing the BG. The texture in the water is pretty cool. I'm with Gail about the pale twig above the head. Really nicely done!
