the pie's in the oven

I was drafted to peel Northern Spies for a Thanksgiving apple pie. When the second or third length of peel dropped into the sink, a new image was on the way.

• layer filled with RGB 235/235/235 (I have no idea why the same values I used in my last post aren't working. Are you folks seeing a difference in the background of the image and the OOTB background?)
• base image masked to remove the lightbox background
• Topaz Simplify -- saved watercolor preset, 81% opacity, masked
• Fractalius -- two saved black & white presets, Multiply blend mode, 54 & 82%, masked
• Alien Skin Snap Art -- saved Line Art black & white preset, Multiply, 58%
• Simplify -- saved black & white edges preset, Multiply

Hi, Dennis, this is a little different for you and I love it! It has a very nice botanical/illustration look and I love the composition (including the stems:S3:)

I love light-box images like this, with the varied translucence from the back ground light and the total white of the bkgd. Great composition of the swirls of apple peels and the bright greens and darker reds. Nice how some of the peel is flat and some on edge. It gives me the feel of a roller coaster ride as I follow around the curves! It would be a fun series to photograph bits and pieces of fruits and vegetables. Maybe we'll make that one of the themes for next year. Very creative & organic, and thanks for a possible theme idea!

On my screen there is no demarcation visible between the image and the OOTB bkgd.

Dennis, I wish I could formulate sentences like you do, I can't put into words how refreshing your images are in here. You just never know what Dennis is going to do next, very cool.

Greetings. (Sorry, I can't help myself) But I have to say this image is very appealing. ;-) That said, I like the composition and color. If it were mine I might be tempted to play around with the bg a bit, not sure what. Thanks for posting.

Love it! And, the title. Great design, colors, processing. Creative thinking, seeing, creating. I love the semi-transluscence of the peelings. Wow!

I love the shapes and colours. Even the stems are very well placed. Very cool abstract, emphasized by the all white background. Well done!

Dennis, I'm impressed with the creativity. The shades of translucent green and red are pleasing.
