Very nice, and the singing pose is a great bonus! I've heard that lens gets a little soft at 600 compared to 500 -- have you found that? But this looks quite good.
A cleaner perch would be a good thing to strive for, but they don't often give us much choice.
Thanks Diane. I find my copy quite sharp at 600. If you can go f/7.1-8.0 its better than 6.3 but I have gotten very good results @ 6.3 also. I was hoping it would land on something a little more attractive than the wilting leave branch but it seemed to like it there and all my wishing and hoping would not change its mind. :)
Good to know about the sharpness -- the versatility makes that a very tempting lens!
That is a fantastic singing pose you got and a perfect head angle. Looks plenty sharp as posted and I like the surrounding vegetation. The only thing I could suggest is to take advantage of the zoom's versatility and zoom out at times...here the subject is tight in the frame and the lowest toes cut off the frame. Anywhere in the 450-500mm range would have been perfect.
Really nice! I have these birds all over the place and try to get a good shot, don't succeed very often. I've read reviews about this lens being soft, wonky or whatever but most times when I see a serious photo taken with it it's very very good. Congrats!
