This is a photograph I took earlier this year. I am still trying out my photoshop skills :e3 I changed the colours to black/white, adjusted brightness and contrasts. I thought the expression on the wee cygnet's face was rather cool:S3:.

Totally agree that the youngster's expression is priceless. If you have it, I would prefer to see the entire swan in the image. If not I would consider making this a tighter image and crop a fair amount from in front of the swan. That would put more of the focus on the cygnet, which is what you want here.
I don't mind that the rest of the swan isn't visible, but I agree with Nancy about cropping from the right to highlight the cygnet. Adding a few Curves adjustment layers could also put more emphasis on the swan and cygnet. I used one to increase the contrast of them and two others to affect the water. One of those was to decrease its contrast; the other was to darken it. The shot you captured is priceless.
The wee one does have attitude and probably a one in a million shot. I like your processing and I think a crop somewhere in between the two.
Its what we all strive for as bird photographers, getting that image of something different. The little guy does have a contented look on his face... well done
A pleasing image with the whites nicely under control. I like what Dennis did to the bg. To my eye, the top and bottom are tight. I would experiment with a small expansion of the canvas at the top.
