Very sweet... Really like the little grasses and the subdued reflection. Do you have a tad bit of room to add to the top? Not sure, but maybe a bit more there and a bit less on the bottom. TFS, Jon!
Hello Jon, you are right, the image sufferes from the crop. So how about considering a composition that loosens things up? The reflection is quite muddy and to me it doesn't add. I would agree with Sandy and crop from the bottom, and leave more room at the top and left side (as viewed). LOVE the grasses, they are a nice balancing element and even the water pattern is interesting. Once you recompose this, I'd work on the sharpening. I totally feel that there is a useable and pleasing image hiding in here, so let me know if there is anything that I can do to help find it!
Nice! Since it's a large crop, I wouldn't mind more added back to the top and left, but as a lover of reflections, I'd leave the bottom as it is, especially since it's already a large crop. I might experiment with lightening the reflection a little.
The grasses and water texture are lovely, and different. You might be able to sharpen the bird a little, but I don't think the image quality is seriously lacking.
RP, added top and left, lightened reflection, sharpened just the bird
Wow, Jon!! Excellent job on the repost. Composition is so personal and really in the end is a matter of what you, the artist, finds pleasing and wants to portray. My own taste regarding refections is that I love them when they are complete and nicely diffuse. (See my loon image in avain from a day or two ago to see what I'm talking about.) If this was mine, I might even try a pano with the bottom trimmed. All this is the fun of photography, playing around with stuff as you find pleasing. I still would like to see more sharpening on the bird, especially the head. But I LOVE The grasses and think that you have created a nice image. Good job.
I like the added room here! Very nice!
Excellent, Jon! The RP works for me too! Way ta go!
