I'm still being educated re chiaroscuro, but as I understand it, yes, it fits. (Even if it doesn't, it's a great shot playing on light). I think I'd delete those two curly things and that speck of light on the bottom left. Love the textures of the wood!
I like the composition and the warm colors. The threads of yarn catch the light nicely. I like that they're there because they show that the spools are used.
If you hadn't explained it I don't think I would have had a clue. It fits the theme nicely. Those highlighted strands really tell the story. The yarn spools are just sitting there waiting to be used again. I like the sepia-like/black combination.
Very nice use of light and shadow. I like the composition, with a close look at these spools. Warm colors are pleasing. The slanting light nicely brings out the texture of the spools. I might crop some off the top since not much is happening up there. The bits of thread are distracting to me; I didn't know what they were until reading the comments, but I not that others like them. I especially like your creativity with this assignment.
Great image for chiaroscuro. You really captured the play of light!
Thanks to all for the look and comments. For me, the bits of wool are an integral part of the image. It is the material for which the spools are made and reflects their use.
I remembered this image from before (or a similar image last year), was a cool image then and now...well done
