These guys fly around with a fish in the beak until the fish looks pretty
old. Every once in a while they dip it into the water then land with it but won't eat
it of feed it to young ones. It's hard to find out their intention.
Thanks for looking.

Lovely image. The background is special. It reminds me of an O'keeffe painting.....I think the topside view of the tern and the way it transects the bg lines turned out pretty dang sweet. Only miss the catchlight, which is of course difficult to show well with dark eyes on a dark head at this distance....Interesting behavior observation. I've never witnessed it, and it is thought provoking.

Caspian Terns catch fish in our lakes in Crest Hill, IL. I often see them with fish but have never seen them eat the fish. They just fly away with the fish. Terns offer great flight photo opportunities when they fly over the lake looking for prey.

Very nice pose, with good details in the whites. Also, the 1/3 segmentation of the background is cool too.

Pretty neat BG...especially the lower band with trees. I like the semi-banking pose, and of course the fish in the bill is always nice to have. I too wish for better definition of the eye, or at least a catchlight. Interesting behaviour you witnessed.

I like the topside view and the BG, adding a small catch light will enhance this one more
